The EUMEDGRID-Support Consortium represents much more than the mere “sum” of its
members. It has been built on the successful experience of the EUMEDGRID project and contains
almost all the stakeholders of e-Infrastructures (both network and grid) in the area of the
Mediterranean. This will ensure the continuation of the best practices and policies developed by
EUMEDGRID.
The benefeciaries constitute a consortium made of 14 partners from several Mediterranean Countries:
7 are from Member States:
- Cyprus: CYNET
- France: CNRS-IDG
- Italy: INFN, COMETA, GARR
- Malta: University of Malta
- United Kingdom: TRUST-IT
1 from Associated countries:
- Turkey: TUBITAK-ULAKBIM
The others are from Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC) as part of the list of International Co-operation Partner Countries (ICPC):
- Algeria: CERIST
- Egypt: EUN
- Jordan: JUNet
- Morocco: CNRST
- Syria: HIAST
- Tunisia: CCK
The Consortium is then mostly made up by Member States or Associated countries but a significant number of non-EU countries makes it well balanced and allows an almost total coverage of the geographical area. The partners were chosen among those originally forming the core of EUMEDGRID project and new ones which could bring added value to the EUMEDGRID-Support proposal and activities.
A description of each single partner will be made available shortly.

Consortium of partners

With the rapid advancement of technology in the world of science calls for a demand for more and more computing power. The implementation and co-ordination of a grid infrastructure at a national (or larger) level opens up important opportunities to optimise the usage of existing, limited storage and computing resources, improve their accessibility and empower research groups from several domains.
