First Grid User Survey Report now available!

Thanks to all those who completed the EUMEDGRID-Support Grid User Survey, we collected over 150 responses including both present and potential infrastructure users from the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa allowing us to track the current scenario of grid awareness in the area.

Results are now available in the first Grid User Survey Report (Download here).

In addition, following direct requests, we have decided to re-open the survey. Based on results a revised version of the report will be delivered in July 2011.

Progress of Signs: Dr Jemni's Tunisian team built a system which uses natural-language processing to translate text messages into sign-language animations delivered in the form of a multimedia message (MMS). The EUMEDGRID-Support Science Gateway is a community-developed set of tools, applications, and data which is integrated via a portal that is further customized to meet the needs of a specific community. The strength of the Science Gateway is that it gives grid users the possibility to execute well-known scientific software exploiting a distributed computing environment whilst hiding complexities and technicalities which lie behind it. The EUMEDGRID-Support Science Gateway also makes the Liferay technology available to create chats, forum blog etc so the community have an environment to collaborate. Interaction is the key word of the Science Gateway. GO TO THE SCIENCE GATEWAY

There is no need for e-Infrastructures without a user community correspondingly exploiting them. The project has an important responsibility to support existing user’s applications and assist new applications that will run on the Mediterranean e-Infrastructure. This activity is also committed to study and deliver a strategy for the long-term sustainability of the support system that will be put in place during the project lifetime.
