EUMEDGRID-Support develops and deploys a dissemination and training program in synergy with the EPIKH (Exchange Programme to advance e-Infrastructure Know-How) project, EUMEDCONNECT2 and other initiatives to increase the awareness of e-Infrastructures across the region and educate the user communities of the usage through these dissemination and training events.

School for Grid Site Administrators (Joint EUMEDGRID-Support/EPIKH Event)
27 June - 1 July 2010 - Algiers, Algeria
The aim of this tutorial is to prepare system administrators on the installation of grid sites and actually put together those facilities to increase the size of the EUMEDGRID-Support infrastructure. The first days will be dedicated to the gLite middleware, services installation and configuration. The second part will be dedicated to have the participants install sites, remotely (from the tutorial), at their home institutions.

School for Application Porting (Joint EUMEDGRID-Support/EPIKH)
3-14 July 2010 - Algiers, Algeria
The Grid School aims at increasing the number of scientific/industrial applications running on the EUMEDGRID-Support production infrastructure. The School also aims at bringing new research groups to use the EUMEDGRID-Support resources as well as to diversity the application domains and scientific communities.

EPIKH Workshop

The EPIKH (Exchange Programme to advance e-Infrastructure Know-How) project announces the workshop to show both the scientific community and decision makers the outcomes of the Joint EUMEDGRID-Support/EPIKH School for Grid Site Administrators and School for Application Porting raising their awareness about the usefulness of e-Infrastructures for e-Science and the importance of their sustainability.

With the rapid advancement of technology in the world of science calls for a demand for more and more computing power. The implementation and co-ordination of a grid infrastructure at a national (or larger) level opens up important opportunities to optimise the usage of existing, limited storage and computing resources, improve their accessibility and empower research groups from several domains.
There is no need for e-Infrastructures without a user community correspondingly exploiting them. The project has an important responsibility to support existing user’s applications and assist new applications that will run on the Mediterranean e-Infrastructure. This activity is also committed to study and deliver a strategy for the long-term sustainability of the support system that will be put in place during the project lifetime.
